Musique de Chambre Francaise
Sep 18th, 2010 (Sat) 8PM - 10PM
Event Type: Music & Opera - Ceol & Ceoldrámaí
County: Limerick - Luimneach
Venue: All Saints Church Castleconnell

Welcome to Limerick County Council's fifth Autumn Music at Castleconnell Series and we invite you to join us on the second Tuesday of each month, commencing Tuesday September 14th in the beautiful setting of All Saints' Church Castleconnell. This year we depart from our previous focus on one composer to take a broad look at French Chamber music of the late 19th and early 20th century.

While our season of French music covers a range of styles, and features more than half-a-dozen composers (Debussy, Ravel and Fauré being the best-known), there is a distinctive flavour to the music of the period at the turn of the century which they all seem to share and which some believe reflects the Impressionist Movement in painting (Monet, Pissarro, Renoir) of the time.

The aim of Limerick County Council Arts Office in presenting this series is to give people in County Limerick the opportunity to enjoy live classical chamber music in a venue that is comfortable and intimate, with excellent acoustics. The emphasis of the concert programme is on the music no less than to provide a platform for some of Ireland's most talented musicians.  Almost all the musicians participating are Irish, but living and working abroad for much of the time in London, New York or Paris means they are also truly international.

Autumn Music at Castleconnell Series is an initiative of Limerick County Council Arts Office and I also gratefully acknowledge our funding partners, The Arts Council and Music Network.

Join us on Tuesday September 14th, Tuesday October 12th, Tuesday 9th November and including Tuesday December 7th @ 8pm.
