The Lonesome West is a black comedy about two feuding brothers, Coleman and Valene, who have just buried their father. Their constant provoking of each other often develops into a cartoonish violence which further distresses the already melancholic local priest, young Father Welsh. This is a hysterically funny play from award winning and renowned Irish playwright Martin McDonagh. Running in the Theatre Royal Waterford from September 7th to 11th 2010. Tickets; preview 7th Sept €10. Performances 8th to 11th September €18.50/€12.

SIREN'S interpretation of this timeless classic presents it as a contemporary domestic drama - a shockingly modern story of a man and a woman caught in the nets of jealously and destructive love. Blurring the boundaries between theatre and live installation, public and private lives and what is seen and unseen, this classic tale resonates as much today as it did thousands of years ago.

Set in a pub in Cavan on a stormy St. Stephen's night. A knock at the door presents an unexpected guest in the shape of the legendary Joe Dolan, who is stranded in the town when his car breaks down. As the storm bears down, the music and craic flows, and we get a hilarious insight into the happenings of a rural pub on the night a legend drops by.
Fresh from a recent sell-out run, this hilarious new play by Padraic McIntyre features live music and a host of local characters, who will have you rolling in the aisles. A real treat for all who enjoy a great night of theatre and music.

Ireland has one of the highest teen suicide rates in Europe. Why is this? FML casts a spotlight on the lives of 15 young Corkonians in this blend of spoken word and film, true confessions and lies.
Who is the funniest, most beautiful, most dangerous? Who will fall by the wayside? Who won't live to see twenty? Who needs help? For everyone who has ever been a teenager.

We don't say this lightly: jerk will leave you stunned and shaken at the gruesome visual world you create around this deceptively stark set. Based on cult author Dennis Cooper's novella of the same name.

Matthew P. Morris in My Body Travels explores a new adventure. He's hitching his heels high and daring to redress his first solo piece. A 'he' who transforms to 'she' in order to walk the wild side of a lopsided reality of assumed identity, he's treading bare a silent world of desirable loneliness before finally surrendering to the natural order of serenity. A cycle of events; moments in time unravel unexpectedly to reveal where paths cross and people change our lives, often unsettling the ground beneath us. Shake it like a milkshake, moves that'll groove … all creamy and dreamy. A song might be sung. The dance will be danced. And please for a moment let there be quiet...

Amber has fierce bad indigestion and the Sambucas aren't getting rid of it. Lorraine attacks a customer at work and her boss wants her to see a psychiatrist. Kay's got an itch that Gem can't scratch (but maybe Kermit can). This perfectly pitched comedy focuses around three generations of women in modern day Artane and one extraordinary year of sex, birth, death and salsa classes. Little Gem, Elaine Murphy's first full-length play, has swept the boards since its sell out run as part of the 2008 Dublin Fringe Festival. It was the surprise hit of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the first ever Irish production to receive the prestigious Carol Tambor Award.

A dark tale of small-town solidarity. Majority rules and a close-knit community turns on one of its own. This is Listowel Syndrome - in a small town you can't afford to make enemies and actions do have consequences. Reflecting on a recent case that saw a large number of people express their solidarity for a convicted man through a wordless gesture, it brings to mind a Faustian pact. Told through dance, text, song and live music, this is a fable told for any town at any time.

Love, sex, birth, death, dildos and salsa classes: Little Gem sees three generations of Dublin women on a wild and constantly surprising journey. Kay's got an itch that Gem can't scratch … Lorraine attacks a customer at work and her boss wants her to see a psychiatrist … Amber has fierce bad indigestion and the sambucas aren't getting rid of it… Paul is just using Amber until he can get to Australia … and there's the hairy man who fancies Lorraine but fails to rise to the occasion. And of course let's not forget Gem, who doesn't like the neighbours coming in to 'mind' him. If all that wasn't bad enough, Little Gem makes his presence felt and life is never the same again.

Kay's got an itch that Gem can't scratch (but maybe Kermit can)... Lorraine attacks a customer at work and her boss wants her to see a psychiatrist... Amber has fierce bad indigetion and the sambuca's aren't helping. Then there's Paul, who's just using Amber until he can get to Australia.... and there's the hairy man who fancies Lorraine but fails to rise to the occassion... and of course Gem, who doesn't like the neighbours coming in to 'mind' him. And if all that wasn't bad enough, Little Gem makes his presence felt and well... life is never the same again.
Little Gem by Elaine Murphy and directed by Paul Meade is a must see.

Following a triumphant international tour including a sell-out run in Edinburgh, CIRCA comes to the Festival amidst a blaze of rave reviews and international public acclaim.
A brand new creation that remixes three previous works which have wowed audiences at Galway Arts Festival in recent years, CIRCA is movement at its most adventurous and dangerous. Combining acrobatics, dance, light, sound and video, seven performers move from highly complex tumbling sequences, to fast-paced flashes of great intricacy. Using a powerful soundtrack ranging from Leonard Cohen to Aphex Twin, this marks a new kind of circus, at once poetic, sensual and immense.
Breathless and breathtaking – prepare to be astounded!

The timeless story of Phaedra's dark obsession with her stepson is placed in a contemporary Ireland that has become a fertile playing field for the capricious gods. Racine's masterpiece of the French theatre - itself drawn from Euripides - and themes from the baroque score of Rameau's operatic response to this mythic tale, have provided the springboard for a dynamic collaboration between writer Hilary Fannin and composer/musician Ellen Cranitch.
Through Fannin's scathing humour, Rough Magic's powerful production explores the extremities of passion, and the psychology of a doomed family in its attempts to outwit fate. The music is performed live by an ensemble of Ireland's leading musicians, under the inspired direction of Ellen Cranitch.
