From 7 - 10 October, Dublin buildings of all types and periods will open up their doors to allow citizens explore the architecture of their city, with special tours by hundreds of professionals and enthusiasts, completely for free.

2010 is an exceptional year in Irish architecture as it sees the completion of several large-scale projects in Dublin city. To mark these new urban landmarks as well as the innovative work of Irish architects across all scales, we have adopted the theme – Big, Small, Global. Open House Dublin is a unique opportunity to explore the city in all its dimensions.

This major survey exhibition of Jack B Yeats promises to bring many of his great masterpieces together for the first time in almost 40 years. Guest curated by Brian O'Doherty (aka Patrick Ireland), the internationally acclaimed artist, critic and theorist, the show will explore Yeats' interest in the subject and realities of the outsider persona. Many of the great works from Yeats' late ex- pressionist phase will be included alongside his more local, political works of the 1920s. The show will be accompanied by a new publication with a major new critical text by Brian O'Doherty, as well as new texts by Dr Tricia Cusack and Dr. Thomas McEvilley.

The Bend of the Boyne, or Brú na Bóinne is internationally renowned for its elaborate Neolithic passage tombs, containing the largest assemblage of megalithic art in Europe.  Lost and Found explores the Megalithic Art of County Meath by conencting investigative practices of archaeologist and artist.

Prof. George Eogan's prolific factual study of Megalithic art of the county interlinks with the diverse work of four contemporary artists.  Curated by Brian Fay, Niall de Buitléar, Fiona Hallinan, Anna MacLeod and Sabina Mac Mahon query the modern day relation of iconic Megalithic art and sites in County Meath.

Breslin's skill resides in his capacity to balance orthodox representation with at times a voracious and rich subconscious. A former lecturer in NCAD, and co-founder of the Head Sculpture Gallery in Dublin, Rory Breslin has had numerous solo drawing and sculpture exhibitions, both nationally and farther afield (Europe, US) and has executed a large body of public commissions.

This production by Siamsa Tire celebrates and explores Blasket Island living while also challenging our own notions of identity as contemporary islanders.  Premiered in 2003, Oilean marked the 50th anniversary of the departure of the Blasket Islanders to the mainland.  The Great Blasket Island, located off the coast of West Kerry still remains an almost mystical significance for many, both from Ireland and abroad.

The way of the life of the islanders and their spirit of survival is framed in this production, which captures the essence of this island community, their traditions and customs, their wealth of song and story, their love of life and their strong kinship with one another.

The Lonesome West is a black comedy about two feuding brothers, Coleman and Valene, who have just buried their father. Their constant provoking of each other often develops into a cartoonish violence which further distresses the already melancholic local priest, young Father Welsh. Black and Tan is an exhibition of portraits re-imagined through old photographs using charcoal and Indian textured paper. O'Dea brings to bear his wealth of experience as a painter of the human face and body; and as a landscape artist consciously receptive to the ever-shifting patterns of light. Throughout Black and Tan previously inanimate faces are lit up by living warmth and personality as the artist re-captures a depth in light as it falls across shoes, buckles and straps in a Dublin street or a Cork Barracks.
